The Sheboygan Film Festival committee is celebrating an important milestone for Wisconsin’s film industry and overall creative economy. With the passage of the 2025-2027 state budget, Governor Evers and state legislators have approved the creation of a State Film Office and the introduction of new tax credits for film and television production.
We believe this marks a turning point not only for filmmakers but also for communities like Sheboygan that are working to strengthen their cultural footprint.
The new plan includes funding for a film office within the Wisconsin Department of Tourism and up to five million dollars in production and investment tax credits each year.
These incentives are expected to encourage film and television productions to choose Wisconsin as a location, ensuring that significant portions of their budgets are spent locally. This means a ripple effect of benefits for industries such as hospitality, transportation, catering, construction, and retail.
Well done, Wisconsin!
